This Project GLAD Tier I Training session is for Teachers, Administrators, Paraprofessionals, Parents, Board Members, District Personnel, and/or College/University Professors, Public/ Private. This Tier I training includes the 2-Day Workshop, 5 –Day Demonstration, Project GLAD Website Password & Binder.
1st part of training: The Two-Day Workshop provides the theoretical and research base for the training.It also covers the curriculum model and practical strategies, including those to promote academic language, literacy, and cross-cultural respect in the classroom.Materials are included.
Two Day Workshop Outcomes
·Learn the theoretical research base of Project GLAD
· Develop knowledge about our curricular model as an integrated, balanced language approach to language acquisition.
· Expand repertoire of effective strategies used to promote language acquisition and academic literacy.
· Learn strategies for differentiation that modify the amount and type of listening, speaking, reading and writing in a language functional environment.
· Reflect and engage in dialogue and discussion around effective pedagogy in relationship to current practice.
· Experience the joy and excitement of teaching and learning when using an integrated, balanced language approach.

Second part of the training *Available only to participants who have completed the 2-Day Workshop: The 4- 5 day demonstration week, provides strategies demonstrated in a classroom, during the morning with students.Afternoons are used for processing and collaborative grade-level planning. Materials are included, afternoon planning materials are not.
Tier I Demonstration Outcomes
·Deepen understanding ofthe theoretical research base of Project GLAD
· Plan instruction using knowledge of the curricular model as an integrated, balanced language approach to language acquisition.
· Expand repertoire of effective strategies used to promote language acquisition and academic literacy.
· Commit to application of strategies for differentiation that modify the amount and type of listening, speaking, reading and writing in a language functional environment.
· Reflect and engage in dialogue and discussion around effective pedagogy in relationship to current practice.
· Experience the joy and excitement of teaching and learning when using an integrated, balanced language approach.
Demonstration Requirement:2-Day Workshopmust be prior to demonstration session.

November 14-18, 2011 Middle School
January 23-27, 2012 Grades 2-4
March 26-30, 2012 Grades K-2
